Pat and Thomas 'Bagwash' Boxall in 2017

‘Bagwash’ and Pat

• MY mum (Patricia) wrote this poem to my Dad (Thomas) in 1982.

My Dad passed from cancer in 2017 and I have only just found this in his belongings.
It reads…

To Bagwash,

If there were never any rain
How dull would seem the sun
If there were never any pain
Would health be so much fun
But for the sorrows we must meet
Life’s joys would not seem half so sweet.
Pat

Bagwash was my Dad’s nickname when he was young, as he used to take neighbours’ washing to be cleaned.

My Mum lives on the Regent’s Park estate and loves writing but has never had anything published.
