• FURTHER to the call from the Labour candidates (Let’s make sure Edgware Road gets back on its feet, March 18): Edgware Road serves as the main artery for traffic wanting to travel to and across London, without having to pay the Congestion Charge.

So it has lost any local, neighbourhood, appeal. The volume and noise of the traffic simply serves to deter all but the hardy.

The dirty pavements are always in need of repair and the amount of litter and dumping is appalling.

It would seem that the army of beggars have immunity from prosecution and have therefore taken up residence along the street.

A concerted “plan of action” is certainly needed, along with the necessary, immediate, funding. I look forward to any improvements.
