Democracy is a farce – think of HS2
Friday, 1st May 2020

• LIKE many others in Euston I paid £20 for the privilege to petition against HS2 before the House of Lords select committee in 2017.
This committee of five men and one woman appeared ignorant of the destruction of people’s lives along the proposed line.
Two of the committee members dozed off during the hearings and all were oblivious to the environmental devastation through swathes of English countryside if HS2 went ahead.
All this was done with the connivance of Camden Council which has a supine attitude to central government.
I’ve long thought democracy a farce in this country. I now know most informed people would agree with me.
