Open letter to Christian Härtnagel, Lidl MD

• THOUGH your website has information on Covid protocols, your store on Tottenham Court Road is the worst when it comes to protecting the public.

Lidl is the only food shop in the West End to completely ignore shoppers without face masks. This does not happen in Tesco, Sainsbury or Marks & Spencer.

Those selfish shoppers now use the excuse that they are exempt. If your security guards, who do nothing at the entrance, were to insist that face coverings were mandatory to access Lidl customers would soon be compliant.

What makes this worse is that this Lidl is next to University College Hospital, a Covid-19 test centre, which means that people visiting their sites could then enter the food store and spread infection.

I have made several complaints to the store about this, only to be told “we do not police the wearing of masks”. Please change this unacceptable attitude. Residents of Fitzrovia are now avoiding your store because of this.
