LUCA Guadagnino’s film Call Me By Your Name has Oscar nomination all over it. Set in a sun-drenched Lombardy, Italy, with a handsome cast, it tells the story of a holiday romance taking place over a summer. Teenager Elio (Timothée Chalamet) is a gifted musician living in his family’s lovely villa, surrounded by their warmth and the polymathic interests of his father, a historian. It is a glorious time to be a 17-year-old, made even better when Oliver (Armie Hammer), a handsome visitor, arrives and immediately attracts his attention. They share food, music, sunshine and cuddles – and take the audience along with them for the ride.

• NOT a film to watch exactly, but Wim Wenders, the director, has a new exhibition of Polaroid snaps he took during a trip to the USA. Dating from 1974 when he headed to America to shoot the film Alice In The Cities, they show a country that is very much from a different age. Made up of more than 200 pictures, they include portraits of his cast and crew, friends and family, and include shots of everyday Americana that to his eye were rather special and summed up this exotic country where movies are made.
