BROADCASTER Jeremy Vine’s mission to capture how dangerous London’s roads are for cyclists continued this week as his headcam showed him almost being run over by a van in Bloomsbury.

The BBC and Channel 5 presenter saw the van take what he said was an “illegal turn” near Tavistock Place on Wednesday but after he shouted his disgust at the manoeuvre, the driver tried to undo it by reversing – leading the vehicle straight into the path of Mr Vine’s Brompton bike.

Mr Vine, who records all his trips and often uploads clips to social media channels explaining what he thinks drivers are doing wrong, can then be seen banging on the back of the van (above).

Somehow his crumpled bike still worked afterwards and he escaped uninjured.

Further clips showed an agreeable ending to the incident with Mr Vine telling the driver “these things happen”.
