THE file is marked confidential, like so many documents which emanate from No10 Downing Street.

So members of the public can only speculate over what lies inside a new application filed at Westminster City Council’s planning department directly from prime minister Theresa May’s abode.

The only information states “internal alterations to ground floor WC”, sparking a guessing a game as to what is wrong with the Downing Street toilet and why it needs these alterations.

Planning documents are normally shared online by the council so interested parties can inspect them – and object if necessary.

The paperwork sent in last month, however, is marked as “confidential” with no detail of the planned work.

Heritage groups are understood to be allowed to see the proposed changes to the loo.

No decision on planning consent has been made yet.
