‘What of future commuting? Buy yourself an e-scooter and whizz and weave along pavements’

• PLANS to greatly improve Oxford Street are merely pedestrianisation in another form.

The small print within the elaborate plans colourfully presented by Westminster City Council contain their main objective: “reducing the number of bus routes and frequency of buses through the area”.

The No 94 bus does not appear on the list of greatly reduced services; it has been removed entirely in order to be of a benefit to the travelling public.

Other bus routes are forced in narrow side streets, their journeys terminated early in order that they can turn around safely.

Such utter disregard of regular commuters, the less able and the older residents is typical of the WCC as they seek to attract tourists to a declining thoroughfare of empty shops and candy stores.

What of future commuting? Buy yourself an e-scooter and whizz and weave along pavements.

No one objects except pedestrians and nobody cares what they think.
