‘Our local posties do a great job. Come on Royal Mail, “sort” yourselves out!’

• MY neighbour just asked a postman “where are all our letters and cards?”

We have all noticed we have only received parcels over the past week. The postman told her that, as there are not enough staff, priority has been given to parcel delivery.

What about all the hospital appointment letters, important financial documents and at this time of year the Christmas cards from family and friends that make someone feel loved and a little less lonely?

There are lots of people who have lost their jobs or have been furloughed because of the pandemic who would be very happy to help reduce the “huge backlog” of post and earn some money to help with Christmas.

Our local posties do a great job and work all the hours. Come on Royal Mail, “sort” yourselves out!
