Barnardo’s plan to help you transform pre-loved clothes

ATTIRED in the glamorous, the flamboyant, and sometimes the downright ludicrous, mode ls have been strutting their stuff down all manner of catwalks around London. Yes, it’s been fashion week in the capital once again.

Marylebone’s Barnardo’s store is getting into the spirit with a special workshop that will teach sewing hacks to transform pre-owned clothes bought at a charity store into creations to rival those on the catwalks. “Audacious” is the word of the day at the store tomorrow (Saturday) – attendees will learn how to make bows and pom-poms out of vintage haberdashery to sew on to clothes.

Barnardo’s are partnering with the Love Your Clothes campaign and sustainability project Charity Fashion Live to host the workshop, to show people how they can transform a bargain picked up at the charity store into something unique, inspired by the latest trends seen at London Fashion Week.

Emma Slade-Edmondson, Charity Fashion Live Founder, said: “Over 350,000 tonnes of clothing go into landfill in the UK every year. “With a little creativity and only a small budget, Londoners can produce fantastic items inspired by the latest trends that support sustainable fashion.”
