Both UCLH and the council acted shamefully

Camden Council’s contracted waste operator throwing away the tents
• DESPITE Camden Council’s attempt to justify its behaviour towards the homeless people sleeping on Grafton Way, it cannot get away from the fact that it is profoundly wrong, callous and downright nasty, (Homeless tents tossed into a rubbish truck, the images that shame Camden, November 16).
UCLH’s reasons for asking for their removal are spurious at best, claiming they provide health services for homeless people. As providing health care is why UCLH and the NHS exist this should be expected, not boasted about.
UCLH also states that homeless people are an infection risk to cancer patients who, along with children, are commonly used as emotional leverage. The logical consequence – that homeless people are not welcome at A&E due to the presence of people with weakened immune systems – is indefensible.
For an ostensibly Labour council to employ contractors to destroy and dispose of people’s property for the “crime” of homelessness is deeply shameful.
Stating they had voluntarily abandoned their belongings is disingenuous; the threat of arrest left them with little choice, proved by the arrest of the person who declined to move on.
Why are these two organisations trying to out-Braverman Suella?
