There will also be handmade decorative objects made from wood and stone and handmade ceramic plant pots and vases on display to buy direct from the creator.
Following the hugely successful life drawing classes at the Brunswick Art Gallery, the centre has arranged for visitors to take part in botanical drawing workshops between 12.30pm – 4.00pm. The classes will be free to attend and tutored by an experienced artist. All materials will also be supplied free of charge.
There will also be several impressive floral and plant backdrops for visitors to be photographed alongside and visitors can take away a unique packet of branded Brunswick Botanical Day seeds, to grow at home. Friends of Bloomsbury Square Gardens will also be attending the event to provide information about local gardens and their local volunteer programmes.
In addition, there will be a farmer’s market at the centre for shoppers to purchase botanical and vegan foods from, amongst other delicious items. Riverford Organic will be selling their fresh organic fruit and vegetable boxes, and Manna Eating will be selling plant-based snacks to enjoy. The iconic, East London Liquor Company, will be at the event too selling their outstanding botanical spirits. Plus, for the foodies out there Spudos will be onsite selling sustainably made crisps and Moonji, will be offering mouth-watering plant-based ice cream.
Several of the centre’s retailers will be getting involved including Riding House Bloomsbury, who will be selling houseplants and grow your own mushroom kits, as well as takeaway G&Ts. Glam Touch will be selling their plant-based makeup and other products – plus they will be giving out samples from the front of their store. Finally, Waitrose will have their sensational flowers for sale outside the front of their store.
The entire event is free to attend, and no pre-booking is required.
John Themis, Marketing Manager for the Brunswick says, “The theme of botanicals and floristry is incredibly loved within our Bloomsbury community, and it seemed like the perfect May event to put on for our visitors, now the weather is finally getting better. We’ve arranged an extensive list of activities, giveaways, and shopping stalls that we really hope appeal to all tastes and interests and our plant life drawing class should be super fun too. I expect this to be a very popular event and I’m sure the sun will be shining for us on the day!”
