Michael Foot

• SUNIL Kumar Pal says Michael Foot was “such a decent man” and I am sure we all agree, (Letters, September 27).

But he complains of the “vilification” of Foot with the publication of Ben Macintyre’s The Spy and the Traitor book.

To be fair the book says (page 121): “He was not a Soviet spy. He had not betrayed his country.” I hope this slightly clears up a blown-up tale.
