Baltic Wharf

Baltic Wharf: ‘The 20-storey building is still too big’

• THE Hyde Park Ward Labour Action Team has made objections to the revised plans which Travis Perkins and Unite Students have submitted for the Baltic Wharf site at the junction of Harrow Road and Bishop’s Bridge Road.

The revised changes are minimal. The 20-storey building is still too big.

• The proposed building is now stepped from six to 20 storeys, as opposed to the original plan which was seven to 22 storeys.

• The number of student beds has been reduced from 843 to 768 – a reduction of just 75.

Alongside residents, we have five main objections to the plans:

1. It is a gross overdevelopment of the site.

2. It is out of scale with the low-rise, residential, Little Venice section of the canal.

3. The proposals will create an overbearing “canyon” effect.

4. It is the wrong use for the site.

5. The site is not an appropriate location for 768 students.

We urge residents to submit their comments online or to northplanningteam@westminster.gov.uk giving their address and the reference and number: 21/04536/FULL
