Bach in her fingers: Pianist Angela Hewitt in concert at Wigmore Hall
Thursday, 11th April 2019 — By Michael White

ONE of the outstanding pianists of our time, Angela Hewitt divides her life between her native Canada and Belsize Park. And that’s where you’ll find her next week because she has a high-profile recital at Wigmore Hall featuring the composer she’s best known for, JS Bach.
In recent years she has been widening her repertoire, wanting to prove her virtuosity in other kinds of music – which is undeniable if you’ve ever heard her Schumann, Fauré or Ravel.
But there is no escaping Bach: he’s in her fingers and her blood. And at the Wigmore she will play a sequence of Toccatas that concludes with the extraordinary Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue.
A major concert.
