Athletes shine at the mini-marathon
Runners test their speed on the streets of Westminster

THE capital’s Mini-Marathon marvels rose with the sun on Saturday to test their speed around the streets of Westminster.

In the mix at the TCS Mini London Marathon was a squad of 33 young athletes representing Team Camden. They set off from Horse Guards Parade before running alongside St James’s Park and then racing past Buckingham Palace towards the finish line on The Mall.
Under-15s boys: Arjuna Pflug (7.55), who was third out of 164 finishers; Azat Atligil (10.11) 133rd; Sorern Eis Loynes (10.15) 138th; Zain Broachi (9.06) 73rd; Heath Robin (10.03) 123rd
Among the borough’s best performers was Alex Pettican, who completed the 2.6k course in eight minutes, 34 seconds to take second place in the boys’ Under-13s race out of 177 finishers. The Highgate Harriers and Middlesex runner was just five seconds behind race winner Luis Da Silva (8.29) from Hammersmith & Fulham.

Filip Kounoupas Prastralo (8.49) also ran well for Camden in the Under-13s age group to finish 10.

London Youth Games’ Cross-Country champion Arjuna Pflug was in fine form as he clocked a time of 7.55 to finish third in the boys’ Under-15s age group out of 164 runners.
Illias Zghoundi finished 41st as he competed on the main stage for the first time
Camden also did well in the Under-17s races, where Harris Austin (7.38) and Leoni Delvendahl (9.14) both stormed to eighth-place finishes in their respective boys’ and girls’ competitions.

Meanwhile, having won the Mini London Marathon four years in a row for Camden, wheelchair racer Illias Zghoundi competed on the main stage on Sunday for the very first time.
The 18-year-old handled the heat well as he completed the 26.2-mile course in two hours, 12 seconds to finish 41st in the T53/T54 race.
