RUNNERS, throwers, and jumpers from London Heathside have capped a fantastic season by securing promotion to the top-flight of the Southern Athletics League.

It will be the first time that the club, which is based at the Finsbury Park athletics track, has ever competed in Division One. It means next season Heathside’s triumphant athletes can look forward to going up against the best clubs in southern England, including national club champions Thames Valley Harriers.

Club chairman Jerry Odlin described the success as “a great achievement” and congratulated team managers Richard Macaulay and Lily Woolcock for their “excellent team management”. He also thanked all the Heathside athletes, coaches, club officials, and supporters for their “consistent effort this season”.
