Art needs the danger of the streets

• ANY readers who oppose tagging are sadly wrong, for me, it can be called creativity and freedom of speech.

Why lock art up in galleries and museums, which are depressingly middle class, restrained, polite and effete?

Art needs the danger of the streets. It should be a rebel act.

I was tagging along the hoardings in Old Compton Street during the grim lockdown year of 2020, when I was seized by the police. For me the arrest was a tragic opportunity to be a martyr for art.

I have to praise Just Stop Oil as the instigators of what I would describe as idealistic performance art.

Fossil fuels are ruining the trees and little animals.

Fossil art in the stuck-up Royal Academy or the ultra-bourgeois V&A is destroying art as a revolutionary force.

I’m afraid my Soho art was hauled away and incinerated after 2020.

Then art, like all else, ought to be transient…
