ARSENAL boss Renee Slegers is hoping to see a response from her players tonight (Friday) when they tackle Everton in the Women’s Super League at Walton Hall Park.
The Gunners are still reeling after Daphne van Domselaar’s late own-goal resulted in the north Londoners being dumped out of the FA Cup on Sunday by Liverpool at Meadow Park.
Slegers admitted that the 1-0 defeat was “very disappointing”, but she’s backing her squad to show their bouncebackability against the Toffees.
“I think the way we came back earlier in the season from disappointing results has been very positive,” said Slegers. “I think this one [against Liverpool] was hard on us because we see that we leave the FA Cup competition. You could see the response from the players. They were very angry, disappointed. They wanted more.
“I see that in a positive way because I think those emotions and that frustration can lead to motivation. That’s what I saw today [in training]. I think we all look refreshed.
“It was one of the better sessions I’ve had so far here. The girls were determined to show something better and I am as well.”
