And they still have designs on the Oxford Circus ‘piazza’

The original idea for the Marble Arch Mound
• THE Marble Arch Mound, the £6million disaster, is coming down. And hopefully with a little more diligence and professionalism than when it went up.
The Dutch landscape architects MVRDV said they have never before experienced such nonchalance and laxity with their design work, as Westminster City Council outsourced its construction and didn’t bother to oversee the work.
The city council still has designs on the “Oxford Circus Piazza”, another fanciful project to attract tourists. Money is no object when it comes to appeasing tourists, at the expense of local taxpayers.
The loosely planned “reconfiguring” of Oxford Circus ties in neatly with the Mayor of London’s plans to pedestrianise Oxford Street.
Bus stops have been closed, bus numbers reduced and those who are less able to walk because of disability, illness, or age are left to struggle against the steady flow of scooters and bicycles on the pavement.
It is shameful the needs of the less able are ignored.
