After expulsion from Labour the campaigning goes on

Thursday, 27th July 2023

• I AM grateful to Paul Renny and the Camden and Islington Momentum steering committee for their kind words of support when I was expelled from the Labour Party, (Member with the party’s real values is expelled, July 20).

I was feeling down having given 13 years as a Labour member campaigning for Labour policies, only to find myself expelled for infringement of petty and partisan rules introduced retrospectively.

I can only imagine how other comrades feel, who have given their lives campaigning for Labour values, when they are expelled.

I was talking to my friend Riva Joffe right up to the day of her death while she was suspended from the party.

I am still very much involved in campaigning, with trade unions last weekend against ticket office closures, listening to the horrific tales Palestinian women had to tell at the Camden Abu Dis festival last Sunday and on Thursday I shall be supporting the NSL parking wardens in Regis Road. I also recently hosted a screening of Oh Jeremy Corbyn – The Big Lie at a local community centre.

Now I urge everyone to campaign to help end child poverty by scrapping the two-child benefit cap, bring public services back into public ownership, protect the NHS and stop Labour backsliding on green policies.
