Camden United are fundraising to help cover running costs
• FIRST accept my congratulations on your excellent newspaper.
Secondly, I would like to let you know that I was inspired by an article you featured back in March concerning the need for Camden United FC to raise monies for their club and their most worthy cause for young people, (United’s future in the balance, March 23).
As a result, I contacted the club and offered to trek the Via Alpina (+400k, 16 mountain passes, the breadth of Switzerland from Liechtenstein to Montreux on Lake Geneva) for their cause.
As I write, I am 12 days in with eight to go. I have been staying in mountain huts along the way. This was on my bucket list anyway (I am recently retired) but it’s great to do something for such a worthwhile local cause.
I was born in London 63 years ago and although I have lived all over the world, I do still have a house in an Islington square.
The money is coming in from friends, companies etc. And I continue to pitch for more funds.
I wanted to let you know how your excellent article led to something which is hopefully very worthwhile.
