• TOTALLY agree with MJL Hall about the floating bus stops; they’re a menace to bus passengers, (Floating bus stops are dangerous, January 4).

Alighting from the No 46 bus at the Ivor Street, NW1, stop I’ve more than once been nearly floored by a cyclist (often a Deliveroo rider) hurtling past at 30mph or more.

You would think cyclists would have enough brains to think, “Oh, a bus has stopped. I’d better slow down in case someone’s getting off.” But it seems many of them haven’t.

So what I would suggest is that some 10 yards before each of these stops a red light should be installed on the cycle lane, to be automatically activated by a stopping bus; perhaps even with a sign reading: “STOP. Wait until bus departs.”

That should surely get through to even the dumbest cyclist!
