A pint at the Sir Keir Starmer?

• DURING our culture wars people are casting around to bring honour or retribution on all sorts of figures from history.
In my youth our pubs were often named after long-gone Victorian politicians – the Lord Palmerston, the Duke of Wellington etc.
So it struck me as odd that there are no similar tributes today in pub names to the politicians of 70 years ago.
Say: “See you down The Harold Wilson, for a pint!”
Or: “Meet you in the saloon bar at The Edward Heath”.
Mind you, in this celebrity age, perhaps telly stars would be more appropriate. As in: “They do a good craft beer at the Katy Price.”
Or: “I don’t fancy The Alan Titchmarsh – they get a rough old crowd in there!”
