A People’s Vote: change the people till they get it right?
Thursday, 16th August 2018
• YOUR correspondent wishes Keir Starmer to support a “People’s Vote”, (Call for MP to back the People’s Vote, August 9). As opposed to an “Owls” or a “Pussycats” vote?
People vote as individuals, their votes are counted. “The people decided” is a colloquialism for the majority vote.
When “the people” vote the wrong way for some people, that is termed populist (bad); we’re back to Berthold Brecht’s “change the people” until they get it right (or Left).
